Lauren Zoe Hernandez, born June 9, 2000, is an American retired artistic gymnast. During her debut year as a senior gymnast, she competed as a member of the gold-medal-winning U.S. women's gymnastics team at the 2016 Summer Olympics in Rio de Janeiro.
Hernandez announced her retirement from competitive gymnastics in July 2021, after the Tokyo Olympics. She is now focused on her studies at UCLA and her work as a sports commentator.
Hernandez's retirement marks the end of an era for U.S. gymnastics. She was one of the most popular and successful gymnasts in the world, and her retirement leaves a void in the sport.
