Dodgers Reliever Blake Treinen Undergoes Surgery

Shoulder Labrum and Rotator Cuff Repair Sideline Pitcher

Treinen Expected to Miss Remainder of 2023 Season

Los Angeles Dodgers relief pitcher Blake Treinen underwent successful right shoulder labrum and rotator cuff repair surgery on Friday, ending his 2023 season prematurely. The surgery was performed by Dr. Neil ElAttrache at the Kerlan-Jobe Orthopaedic Clinic in Los Angeles.

Treinen, 34, has been plagued by shoulder issues in recent years. He missed the entire 2022 season after undergoing thoracic outlet surgery in May. He returned to the Dodgers in 2023 and pitched in 15 games before being placed on the injured list in June with shoulder discomfort.

The Dodgers are expected to rely more heavily on other relievers, such as Daniel Hudson, Phil Bickford, and Evan Phillips, in Treinen's absence. The team is currently in first place in the National League West, but they have struggled to maintain a consistent bullpen throughout the season.
